Where is Walk for Humanity London?
Join us for a 5k or 10k circular walk starting and finishing in Archbishop's Park - which is close to Lambeth North tube station and Waterloo Railway Station. You'll pass some of London’s most famous landmarks as you cross the River Thames, including St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben, Tate Modern and the London Eye.
How will you make a difference?
Walk for Humanity London is your chance to take in the sights and sounds of the capital in a way you’ve never experienced before. Whether you choose the 5k (sold out) or 10k route, you’ll be raising money so we can be here for humanity, whatever the crisis.
Walk for every person living through unimaginable conflict.
Walk for every family whose home’s been destroyed by storms.
Walk for every person struggling to put food on the table after being forced to flee.
Walk for every community pulling together and rebuilding after an earthquake.
Walk for humanity.
Together, with you walking alongside us, we are the world’s emergency responders.
About the event
How do I get to the event?
Make sure to plan your journey in advance. The event village is a short walk from Lambeth North tube station, which is on the Bakerloo line, as well as Waterloo Railway Station, which is accessible by London Overground, and Northern, Jubilee and Bakerloo lines. Multiple bus services run to Lambeth Palace Road, Lambeth Road, and Westminster Bridge Road.
There’s no dedicated parking available – please use city centre parking and local public transport. The meeting point’s what3words reference is care.hush.rice, find out more on the what3words website.
Please consider the most sustainable method of transport, or car share where possible.
What time do I need to arrive?
To ensure the safety of walkers and members of the public, walkers will set off in waves. The charity village will be open from 10am to 4pm. The first wave will set off at 10.30am. Please check your emails for your allocated arrival and walk start time. If you haven't received this information, please get in touch at walkforhumanity@redcross.org.uk.
What are the facilities?
- Toilets
- Disabled toilet
- Water at the start and finish area for you to fill up a reusable bottle
- Food trucks at the event village
- Information about our work
- Plenty of shops along the route if you need to purchase extra drinks or snacks
What is the route like?
It will be a gentle, mostly flat city centre walking route, using well-maintained paved footpaths throughout. The 5k route is slightly over 5 kilometres to ensure it is fully accessible for all participants.
We estimate that most walkers will take between 90 minutes and two hours to complete the 10k route as there are no major hills or obstacles. And we estimate the 5k distance will take between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours to complete.
The route will have well-maintained paved footpaths with dropped kerbs at crossing points and step-free access throughout. A disabled toilet will be available in the event village.
Please note: the route and distance is subject to change, and suitable footwear is recommended. Please don't underestimate the 10k route, and consider the weather on event day as well if planning to bring children or pets.
What should I bring?
- Your T-shirt and walker number
- A water bottle to fill up at the event village
- Snacks
- Weather-appropriate clothes and comfy shoes

How much do I need to raise?
We ask that everyone taking part aims to raise £150, or as much as you can. Every pound raised will help us reach people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. You can, of course, raise more. We’ll stay in touch with tips and ideas right up to the event, but you can start your charity fundraising for the Red Cross now by checking out our fundraising resources.
